On June 6, the global live broadcast of the “World’s Highest Cat Road in the Sea” challenge will be held at the Lingdingyang Bridge Catwalk at an altitude of 26 meters above the sea. The event was guided by the News Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, broadcast live on the global network and CCCC, and exclusively provided by China Unicom with 5G technical support and communication guarantee, and was broadcast live to network platforms at home and abroad. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is a world-class cross-sea cluster project integrating “bridge, island, tunnel and underwater connectivity”, and is an important transportation link connecting the three major areas of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone and connecting the two functional groups of “Shenzhen-Guanhui” and “Pearl Middle River” in the Pearl River Delta. Among them, the main span of Lingdingyang Bridge is 1666 meters, which is the world’s largest span sea steel box girder suspension bridge. The communication guarantee completed at sea 16 kilometers from the coastline, with long communication distances, large changes in weather environment, and high requirements for 5G data transmission stability, which brought a test to China Unicom’s support team.After receiving the task, the network builders went to the island to investigate, and after full research, decided to build a 270G base station on the top of the east and west towers of the catroad at a height of 5 meters from the sea surface to ensure the low latency and stability of signal transmission. Because the top of the tower was far from land and could not be transmitted by fiber-optic cables, the team decided to use a microwave transmission solution.<\/p>\n\n

Since the two sections of microwave transmission are 16 kilometers apart, in order to overcome the technical problems of stable microwave transmission at both ends and limited microwave equipment, the support team continued to discuss and improve the plan, and every day at an altitude of nearly 200 meters above the sea surface, facing the scorching sun and sea breeze, debugging and testing, and finally completed the optimization of the wireless signal coverage model and the deployment of short-distance transmission equipment to achieve the stable guarantee of 5G rate. China Unicom’s work efficiency and network quality have also been praised by the event organizers and on-site construction staff.<\/p>\n\n
