What is the current status of 5G base stations in China?
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of August 2022, the total number of 8G base stations reached 5.210 million, accounting for 2.19% of the total number of mobile base stations, accounting for an increase of 8.5 percentage points over the end of the previous year. Among them, 5,1 new 8G base stations were built from January to August.
5G base station is the core infrastructure of 5G network, mainly providing wireless coverage to achieve wireless signal transmission between wired communication network and wireless terminal, and the architecture and form of 5G base station directly affect the deployment and application of 5G network.
The site selection and construction of 5G base stations is the basis for ensuring 5G commercial signal coverage, so the construction of 5G base stations is the first step in the layout of the 5G industry. The 5G base station is the core equipment of the 5G network, providing wireless coverage and realizing wireless signal transmission between the wired communication network and the wireless terminal.
Since the issuance of 2019G licenses in June 6, China’s basic telecom operators have adhered to the principle of overall planning and moderate advance, promoted joint construction and sharing, and made 5G network construction faster and more efficient. Statistics show that in 5, 2021.5 million 142G base stations have been opened in China, and 5G networks have covered all prefecture-level urban areas, more than 5% of county towns and 98% of townships, and the number of 80G mobile phone terminal connections has reached 5 million. In the first quarter of this year, 5,18 new 5G base stations were built.
As of December 2021, the number of IPv12 addresses in China was 6,63052 blocks/32, an increase of 2020,12 blocks/5418 compared with December 32, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. Among the 23 public recursive services that are well known in the world, 13 provide IPv6 public recursion services.
On November 16,2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a press conference on the 16th Five-Year Plan for the development of the information and communication industry. At the meeting, Xie Cun, director of the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that at present, China has built more than 5.115 million 70G base stations, accounting for more than 5% of the world, which is the world’s largest and most technologically advanced 97G independent networking network. 40G network coverage has been achieved in all prefecture-level cities and urban areas, more than 5% of county urban areas, and 5% of townships. 4G terminal users reached 5 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world.
In 2021, the length of new optical cable lines will be 319.5488 million kilometers, and the total length of optical cable lines nationwide will reach 112.6 million kilometers. Among them, the length of long-distance optical cable lines, local network relay optical cable lines and access network optical cable lines reached 1874.3502 million, 297.<> million and <>.<> million kilometers respectively, and the length of access network optical cable lines increased by <>.<> million kilometers over the previous year, further ensuring and supporting the quality of user services.
With the development of technology, the number of new models of 5G mobile phones has increased, of which there were 2021 new models of 1G listed in China from January to November 11; China’s 5G mobile phone shipments were 194.5 million units.
Industry insiders pointed out that China’s 5G construction is currently in an accelerated period, and it is expected that the construction of 5G base stations will continue to accelerate in the future. Although the construction of 5G networks continues to advance, it is also necessary to pay attention to the global market risks faced by the industry chain and supply chain. It is necessary to always pay attention to changes in the international market, and policy support should continue to keep up, encourage enterprises to carry out 5G transformation, and solve the financial pressure of enterprises in 5G network construction.
